More relaxed Zoom calls

For less formal meetings, let’s create a culture where its okay to move around, lie down and even shut our eyes for a while.

Avoid talking loudly

shouting on zoomThis happens easily in online meetings. And it can be exhausting doing it, and also listening to it.

We subconsciously imagine people far off.

And, if anyone sounds distant or quiet, we automatically assume we do too (that’s what happens in “real life”).

So, we raise our voice – when it’s usually a problem with their setup/microphone and others can hear you perfectly fine.

So, if necessary, check that people can hear you when you speak normally. It will be much more relaxing for everyone.

Move around and relax

relaxed zoomGive yourself and others permission to move around, lie down, relax and even close your eyes for a while.

Remember to let people know you’ll still be listening

Position your camera so people can still see you if you’re … sitting in front of the screen … or on the sofa … or getting a drink … or lying on the floor.

A separate camera/webcam on a cable can really help with this.
