Heading for Extinction talks – send someone an invite

Which is more scary?
Stepping out and blocking a road  OR  talking to someone about Extinction Rebellion

We need more people to start the journey you’re already on – learning, involvement and action.
The “Heading for Extinction” talk is designed exactly for this.

Probably the most effective way for people to hear about it, is for us to tell our friends, colleagues, acquaintances about it.

And, for many of us this can be as challenging as blocking a road (or more!).
And it may be as effective (or more!).

TIPS when writing your email

Send a few individual, personalised emails – rather than one email to a few people using Bcc

Add something short, but personal, at the beginning about why you’re worried or how you got involved.

Don’t talk about them or why they should … or why its important for the world. Keep it about you.

When you’re writing your email, hold compassion and no blame in your heart – taking that first step can be huge for so many reasons.

There are two different talks …

HEADING FOR EXTINCTION – and what to do about it

An online Zoom “talk and discussion” evening

An opportunity for anyone concerned about the climate and environment to learn more about what’s really happening, what can be done, and about Extinction Rebellion (XR)

Speakers from Extinction Rebellion will share the latest climate science on where our planet is heading, discuss some of the psychology around climate change and the contribution that social movements can make to accelerate positive change.

UMBRELLA TALK

An online Zoom “talk and discussion” evening

Concerned about the climate or ecological crises? Or both? Would you like an understandable summary of what the science says, (most politicians don’t tell you) and how ordinary citizens are affected, and can help? Join our fact-checked Umbrella Talk and discussion.

 

Forthcoming dates

Talks are either a 1 or 2 hour version (see times below – with some still to be confirmed which).
All include a 30 min Q&A – time to ask questions and discuss the issues
All times are UK time

  • Thur 24 March 7 – 8.30pm (Umbrella Talk)
  • Thur 31 March 7 – 8.30pm
  • with more dates coming (so if you can’t make these, still register below and we’ll keep you informed)

It’s targeted at people new to XR, but everyone is welcome.

There is a groundswell of climate issue pressure building for the radical changes and strategies we need the Government to put into action. Dabbling round the edges of climate change is beyond inadequate. Only heightened awareness, groundswell mobilisation across the country and forward planned actions and decisions can make a difference re what is inevitable if we stay passive.
