Climate Change … is enough being done?
Alone we can often feel dispirited, ineffective, powerless. Together we can be so much more.

Other campaigning civil resistance groups
Insulate Britain: http://insulatebritain.com/
Founded by six members of Extinction Rebellion. The group began hosting events in July 2021.
They demand that the government improve the insulation of all social housing in the UK by 2025 and retrofit all homes with improved insulation by 2030. There is a consensus among climate scientists and policy experts that home insulation—including when retrofitted—is an environmental priority, saves money to occupants and is beneficial to the economy.
A series of protests involving traffic obstruction began in Sept 2021.
Just Stop Oil: https://juststopoil.org/ and https://www.facebook.com/JustStopOil/
A coalition of groups working together to ensure that the government commits to ending all new licenses and consents for the exploration, development and production of fossil fuels in the UK.
Launched on 14 Feb 2022 it uses civil resistance and held a month of oil terminal disruptions across England in April.

Last but maybe most importantly …
Climate & Ecology Bill https://www.facebook.com/CEEbillNOW
Leading scientists say we risk losing control of our climate for good, unless we quickly reduce emissions and restore lost nature. That’s where the Climate & Ecology Bill comes in. It’s specifically designed to reverse climate and ecological breakdown, offering us real hope.
Those same scientists have worked with MPs, legal experts, ecological economists and members of the public to bring the Climate & Ecology Bill before Parliament.
The Bill was first developed with members of the successful ‘Big Ask’ campaign which led to the Climate Change Act 2008 and first introduced to Parliament in September 2020. The updated Bill was introduced in House of Lords in June 2022.
Zero Hour: https://www.zerohour.uk/
The campaign group behind the Climate and Ecology Bill. We’re a small team of mostly volunteers, driven by a shared commitment to ensure that the UK Government delivers a serious climate-nature emergency strategy. Please get in touch if you’re keen to volunteer for the Alliance – there are roles across every team, and we’re always growing.
Local XR Actions
Banner drops
Easy to do, social, and with others who have done it before.
A small group hang a banner on a bridge over the A38 and wave at the traffic. Usually on a coordinated day with many other groups on other bridges – so traffic passes many banners.
It makes our presence known and reminds large numbers of people of the issues and that there are people concerned enough to be doing something.
Pink Tables
We set up a pink table somewhere public (street, event etc) and invite people to come and talk to us about the climate and how they feel and to ask us about what we’re doing there.
It is non-confrontational and a relatively safe space for people to talk and ask questions.
You can support others at the table or (if you’re good at asking questions and listening) take a turn at the table.
Online stuff
Easy to do … and from home too 😊
And its’ more than just another online petition.
We organise large numbers of people to target their voices, questions, concerns at specific people or organisations at a specific time. To communicate a point; to let them know how many people are concerned about an issue; to put pressure on them; to let them know they are being seen.
Knocking on doors
Similar to the Pink Table … go with a buddy and knock on doors and give people a chance to talk about climate change, the government, what’s being done and what’s not being done.
